AVIF to JPG

Create a JPEG copy of an AVIF picture for software that needs JPG. The existing server converter handles AVIF decoding and removes embedded metadata.

Common formats stay in your browser. Advanced conversions are deleted from the server immediately.

AVIF to JPG: make a still image for a JPEG-only destination

An AVIF image may work on a website but fail in a photo-upload form or an older desktop editor. A JPG copy solves that format requirement, with trade-offs for transparent pixels, HDR color and already compressed detail.

How to convert AVIF to JPG

  1. Choose one AVIF file

Upload or drop the AVIF. This page uses the local server decoder and presets JPEG output in the shared converter.

  2. Choose the JPEG settings

Set quality, choose a background for transparent areas and leave resizing off unless the receiving app needs different dimensions.

  3. Check colors and edges

Compare the displayed byte sizes and open the downloaded JPG. Check the picture in the intended app, especially when the original uses HDR or a broad color range.

What AVIF-to-JPEG conversion does not preserve

PropertyAVIF sourceJPG result
TransparencyMay contain an alpha channel.Flattened onto the chosen solid background.
Color depthCan contain HDR or high-bit-depth color.Ordinary JPEG; original HDR and bit depth are not guaranteed.
Animation or extra imagesMay contain an image sequence.Only the first image is exported.
MetadataMay have embedded descriptive or camera tags. The server applies orientation and strips embedded metadata.

Choose the right workflow

Open an AVIF in a JPEG-only app

Create the JPG copy for compatibility, not as a replacement for the source archive. Keep AVIF if you may need its original colors or compression later.

Avoid flattening a transparent image

Choose PNG instead when a logo or isolated image must retain supported transparent pixels. Compare the larger PNG size before choosing it for delivery.

Use AVIF to PNG

Check these things before trying again

The result looks less vivid

The original may use HDR or color information that does not survive ordinary JPEG output. Compare in the same viewer and retain the AVIF when those properties matter.

The JPG exceeds an upload limit

JPEG may be larger than the compact AVIF source. Compress the new JPG or resize it to the destination requirements; inspect the result before submitting it.

Reduce the JPG size

Processing, privacy and the original file

AVIF decoding and JPEG encoding run locally on the LoveMyFiles server through ImageMagick. This page accepts one file up to 30 MB. The private conversion workspace is deleted after producing the response or encountering an error. No third-party file-conversion service is used.

Frequently asked questions

Does AVIF to JPG preserve HDR and transparency?

No. Transparent areas are flattened onto your selected background. Original HDR and high-bit-depth color properties are not guaranteed in ordinary JPEG output.

Why did AVIF to JPG increase the file size?

AVIF can be highly compact. A JPEG at the chosen quality may use more bytes. Adjust quality or dimensions only as far as the destination and visible detail allow.

Will this preserve every property of the source?

AVIF HDR, high bit depth and broad color information may not survive ordinary JPEG output. Transparent pixels use your selected background. Only the first image is exported.

Is the source replaced or retained on the server?

Your original file is not modified. Browser conversions do not upload the image. Server conversions use temporary copies that are removed immediately after producing the response, including on a conversion error.
