Image to text: turn a readable picture into text you can review and reuse

OCR recognizes characters in a picture; it is different from reading text already stored in a document. LoveMyFiles uses locally installed Tesseract for English or Hindi printed text and returns an editable plain-text result, not a recreated page layout.

How to extract text from a JPG, PNG or WebP

  1. Prepare a sharp, upright image

Choose one JPG, PNG or WebP up to 30 MB and 12 million pixels. Crop away unrelated surroundings and rotate sideways writing before uploading.

  2. Choose the printed language

Select English or Hindi. Uploading starts recognition automatically; changing the language processes the selected image again. Choose the language actually used in the picture.

  3. Review and reuse the text

Edit mistakes in the text area, then use Copy text or Download text. Check names, dates, totals and punctuation against the picture before relying on the result.

What local image OCR produces

Source or requirementThis toolWhat to expect
Printed English or HindiInstalled Tesseract language models.Editable characters and line breaks; recognition errors can occur.
Columns, tables and fontsPlain-text extraction. No reconstruction of table cells, typography or the original page design.
Handwriting or other languagesNo dedicated support here.Do not assume reliable recognition or an available language model.
Download formatA TXT file from the reviewed text. Not a Word document or a searchable PDF.

Choose the right workflow

Copy a printed note or a screenshot

Use a clear image when you want to reuse a short passage without retyping it. Crop to the relevant writing rather than submitting a busy picture with tiny text.

Crop around the writing

Work with a scanned PDF

Use the OCR PDF tool for a document whose pages are already in a PDF. Uploading a PDF here is not supported, and image-to-text does not create searchable PDF pages.

Open OCR PDF

Check these things before trying again

No text was detected

Check whether the writing is upright, in the selected language and large enough to read. A blank OCR result does not prove the picture contains no text. Try a clearer crop rather than enlarging blurry letters.

Numbers or lines are wrong

Low contrast, glare and tightly spaced columns can confuse recognition. Compare the result with the source, correct it in the editor and check critical values individually.

Processing, privacy and the original file

Recognition runs on the LoveMyFiles server, not an external OCR API. Temporary image copies are deleted after each processing request, including failures. The editable result stays on the page so you can copy or download it. This is not a storage service or an accuracy guarantee; keep the source when verification matters.

Frequently asked questions

Which OCR languages are installed?

English and Hindi are installed on this server. Choose the language that matches the printed text.

Does this produce an editable document layout?

No. It produces plain text, not a reconstructed Word document, table or formatted PDF.

Why is the OCR result empty or inaccurate?

Small, blurred, rotated or low-contrast writing can be difficult to recognize. Choose the correct language and try a sharp, upright crop. Review every result; no recognition accuracy is guaranteed.

Can I upload a PDF, HEIC or AVIF here?

This image OCR accepts JPG, PNG and WebP only, up to 30 MB and 12 million pixels. Convert HEIC or AVIF first. Use OCR PDF for a scanned PDF document.
