Review text, multiline, checkbox, and selection fields before saving, especially when the form contains required information.
Saving creates a completed PDF while the original form on your device remains unchanged.
Choose a fillable PDF to enter values in its detected fields and download a separate completed copy.
The form editor shows supported text fields, multiline fields, checkboxes and selection lists found in the PDF. You can enter values on the page or in the field panel; fields with the same name share the same value.
A scanned application or a PDF with lines drawn for handwriting may contain no interactive fields. Use Edit PDF to add visible text in those spaces. Fill PDF Forms does not create a new set of interactive fields.
Add text to a non-fillable PDFThe PDF defines its field names and choices. Check the visible form as well as the field panel.
Enter reference numbers, postal codes and dates as the recipient requests them. Text fields can include leading zeros or punctuation; review the downloaded PDF to make sure the complete value fits inside each field.
Confirm that the intended boxes are checked and that dropdown values match your choice. Some PDFs use specialized or grouped controls that this editor may not handle correctly. If the detected controls differ from the original form, complete it in a compatible PDF reader.
Saving the filled form produces a new file. Open that file before sending it to the recipient.
Check long answers, multiline text and selection marks in your PDF reader. The saved form keeps interactive fields rather than intentionally flattening them, so a recipient may still be able to edit the values.
When the form calls for a visible signature, you can place one on a copy after checking the filled values. Ask the recipient whether a visible signature is acceptable when their workflow requires certificate-based signing.
