Compress Image

Reduce JPEG, PNG and WebP file sizes with quality and target-size controls.

Images up to 50 MP stay in your browser. Larger JPEGs up to 150 MP use our server and are deleted after processing. Large JPEGs keep their dimensions and convert to screen-friendly sRGB.

Smaller images for faster uploads and websites

Compress JPG, PNG and WebP online

Reduce common image formats without installing software. Adjust quality or choose a target file size, then compare the original and compressed size before downloading.

Reduce image file size for websites and sharing

Smaller images can load faster on websites and are easier to attach to email, submit to forms, or share. Choose a balanced setting when visible quality matters.

Browser-first processing with large JPEG support

Images up to 50 megapixels are compressed in your browser. JPEGs above that limit, up to 150 megapixels and 30 MB, use local open-source processing on our server. Temporary processing files are removed after the request. Large JPEGs keep their dimensions and become screen-friendly sRGB files; retain your original CMYK file for print work.

Choose quality or a target size

Compression keeps the decoded image dimensions unless you allow smaller dimensions in a maximum-size or range mode. Choose a mode according to what your upload needs.

Use Quality for detail

Quality applies your selected setting to JPEG or WebP encoding. Lower values can reduce bytes but soften fine detail; inspect lettering and edges before downloading.

Treat Target size as a goal

Target size searches for an encoding within the entered KB value. A very small target can remain unmet even at the lowest attempted quality; check the actual output size.

Check the format and the saved file

PNG compression may change the format. A download without savings can contain the original file.

PNG may become WebP

When your browser can encode WebP, LoveMyFiles tries it for PNG compression. Check the download extension if an upload requires PNG; use Resize Image when you need smaller dimensions instead.

Original kept means unchanged bytes

In Quality mode, LoveMyFiles keeps the original when encoding would make it larger. Size-target modes also compare the requested bounds. If the original is returned, its bytes, format and metadata remain unchanged.

Reduce pixels before lowering quality further

Large pixel dimensions can keep a file above an upload limit even after compression.

Resize to the required dimensions

For exact width or height requirements, resize a copy first. For a maximum KB or size-range target, you can opt into smaller dimensions if encoding alone remains above the maximum. Minimum-size mode never reduces dimensions or adds padding bytes.

Resize before compressing

Compare text and fine edges

Inspect the download at its intended display size. If labels or linework look blurred, return to the original and raise quality or choose a less demanding target.

Frequently asked questions

Why might an image not become smaller?

Quality mode keeps the original when encoding would not reduce its size. Target and range modes check actual bytes; smaller dimensions require your permission. Some sizes cannot be reached, and the result is marked accordingly.
