Create QR codes for different types of content

Choose what a scan should open or display. Your phone or scanner decides how to handle contacts, networks, messages and calendar data; a QR code does not perform those actions by itself.

Website and URL QR codes

A URL QR stores a complete web address. Scanning offers a link to the website; it does not host the page or bypass its access permissions.

Useful for: Landing pages, stores, portfolios, product pages and booking pages.

Enter: The full http:// or https:// address, then verify the exact destination.

Create URL QR

Wi-Fi QR code generator

Share network credentials with compatible scanners. Choose WPA/WPA2-Personal, legacy WEP or an open network, and mark a hidden network if needed. Enterprise Wi-Fi is not supported.

Useful for: A guest network at home, reception or an event.

Enter: The exact SSID, security type and password. Anyone with the QR can read its credentials.

Create Wi-Fi QR

Contact and vCard QR codes

A vCard 3.0 QR carries a contact that a compatible app can offer to import. Names, company, department, job title, phone numbers, email addresses, website, address and a note are supported.

Useful for: Business cards, event badges and staff contact sharing.

Enter: At least a first or last name, then only the contact details you want to share publicly.

Create contact QR

Plain text QR codes

Store text directly in the pattern, including line breaks and Unicode characters. A scanner can display or copy it without needing a hosted page. More text produces a denser code.

Useful for: Short reference notes, labels and classroom instructions.

Enter: A concise message; check the encoded data before downloading.

Create text QR

Email QR codes

Open a draft in a compatible email app with a recipient, optional subject and message. Scanning does not send the email or guarantee delivery.

Useful for: A customer enquiry, event contact or feedback draft.

Enter: One recipient email address and any draft subject or message.

Create email QR

SMS QR codes

Open a text-message draft with a number and optional message. Prefilled-message support varies between scanners and messaging apps; the user still chooses whether to send.

Useful for: A short reply or an appointment enquiry.

Enter: An international phone number starting with +, then an optional message.

Create SMS QR

Phone number QR codes

Offer a telephone number to a compatible dialer. A scan does not automatically place a call, and phone extensions are not supported by this generator.

Useful for: A service desk, sales contact or printed phone directory.

Enter: The + country code and phone number.

Create phone QR

WhatsApp QR codes

Build a wa.me chat link with an optional draft message. The number must have a WhatsApp account. This is a link to WhatsApp, not an integration that sends messages for you.

Useful for: A business enquiry or a conversation link on a flyer.

Enter: An international phone number and optional draft message.

Create WhatsApp QR

Location QR codes

Encode latitude and longitude for a compatible map app. An optional map label uses a scanner-dependent geo query. The tool does not request your device location.

Useful for: An event meeting point, property location or trail marker.

Enter: The verified coordinates and, if useful, a short map label.

Create location QR

Event and calendar QR codes

Embed an iCalendar event, not an invitation. Add a title, start, optional end, location, description and event URL. Timed events use your chosen IANA timezone and are encoded in UTC; all-day events use dates.

Useful for: A workshop, open day or meeting reminder.

Enter: The event details and correct timezone. Calendar import depends on the scanner.

Create event QR

UPI payment-request QR codes

Encode a static INR payment request with a UPI ID, payee name, optional amount and note. LoveMyFiles does not verify the account, process the payment or confirm receipt.

Useful for: Sharing your own verified UPI payment details.

Enter: The payee details. Check them in the payment app; never enter a PIN, OTP or bank password here.

Create UPI QR

Social media profile QR codes

Social profile is a normal URL QR, not a special QR standard. It opens the Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok or other profile link you supply.

Useful for: A profile on a business card, a creator page or a channel link.

Enter: The public profile URL; selecting URL and pasting the same link works too.

Create social profile QR

Google Maps link QR codes

Open the map URL you provide rather than embedding coordinates. The map service controls its display and availability. Use Location when you want a coordinate-based QR instead.

Useful for: Directions to a venue, shop or property.

Enter: The existing share link from your map page.

Create Maps link QR

Customer review-link QR codes

Link to your existing business review page. There is no business search or automatic review submission; the customer opens the link and decides what to write.

Useful for: A reception sign, receipt or packaging insert.

Enter: The correct public review/share URL for your business.

Create review link QR

Google Forms QR codes

Open a published form using its URL. LoveMyFiles does not collect form answers or change the form permissions. Test whether a visitor can access it without your account.

Useful for: Registration, feedback, classroom quizzes and attendance forms.

Enter: The respondent link, not the private form-editing URL.

Create form link QR

App-store and app-page QR codes

Link to an HTTP(S) app-store listing or app landing page. This option does not automatically detect a device or choose between stores.

Useful for: An app download invitation or product onboarding page.

Enter: The store or landing-page URL that your intended audience can open.

Create app link QR

File download-link QR codes

Open an already-hosted file address. Whether it downloads or opens in a viewer depends on the browser and host; the file is not uploaded to this generator.

Useful for: A catalogue, handbook or public download.

Enter: A stable public file URL and confirm its permissions.

Create download link QR

Restaurant and digital menu QR codes

Point guests to an already-published menu page or file. The QR does not upload, host or edit the menu. A page you control can be updated without changing its URL.

Useful for: Table signs, takeaway packaging and an entrance display.

Enter: The menu URL; test it on a phone without signing into your hosting account.

Create menu link QR

PDF and document QR codes

Share a link to a PDF or other hosted document. The QR stores its address, not the document itself, and cannot grant access to a restricted file.

Useful for: Instructions, office documents, reading materials and brochures.

Enter: The public document URL. Keep that URL available for as long as you use the QR.

Create document link QR

How to create a QR code

  1. Choose the content type

Start with the action you want a scan to offer: opening a link, joining Wi-Fi, importing a contact or reading text.

  2. Enter the details

Use a complete URL or the relevant fields. Check phone country codes, form permissions and contact information before publishing.

  3. Customize the design

Choose colors and a pattern, then add a compact logo or frame if needed. Leave a clear border around the pattern.

  4. Preview and optimize

Review your QR preview. Optimize can change colors, transparency, patterns or error correction to improve readability.

  5. Test a scan

The preview is decoded at normal and half size. Also scan with your intended phones; a software check cannot prove printed artwork will work.

  6. Download the right format

Guests can download PNG. A free account unlocks SVG, JPEG, WebP and PDF exports, projects, brand presets and CSV batches.

Customize your QR code without losing readability

Colors and background

Set the module color, background and separate eye colors. Dark modules on a light surface are the clearest starting point. Fix contrast adjusts weak combinations.

Transparency and gradients

Transparent backgrounds depend on the final surface; JPEG adds a white background. Linear and radial gradients have an end color and rotation control. Auto optimization can switch transparency off.

Pattern and positioning eyes

Choose square, rounded, dot, extra-rounded, classy or classy-rounded modules. Outer and inner eye styles are separate. Start with square patterns if a more decorative design fails scanning.

Logo and backing

Keep the center logo modest. Padding separates it from modules, radius shapes the backing, and a white backing can keep a multicolor logo legible.

Frame and frame text

Choose a border, rounded frame, top or bottom label, badge or card. Set frame colors, text color, font size and corner radius. A frame increases the final file dimensions.

Error correction and quiet zone

Choose Auto, L, M, Q or H. The quiet-zone control uses module widths, from 4 to 12, rather than fixed CSS pixels. More data or redundancy can require a larger print.

Presets and optimization

Start from a design preset or reuse an account brand preset. Auto optimization can adjust the effective design; the explicit Optimize action can simplify a failing pattern further.

Export size

Single QR exports offer 256, 512, 1024, 2048 or 4096 pixels for the QR area. Frames add space around it. SVG stays vector; raster formats depend on browser support.

Static vs dynamic QR codes: what this tool creates

The main editor creates static QR codes: the content you enter is stored directly in the pattern. That pattern has no LoveMyFiles-controlled expiration. A website, file, network password or phone number can still change or stop working.

Free signed-in accounts can also create managed dynamic links. Their QR opens a LoveMyFiles destination page first, where the visitor chooses to continue to the HTTPS website. You can change that destination, pause or delete the link. Moderation can disable unsafe links.

FeatureStatic QRManaged dynamic link QR

Editable destinationNot inside an existing pattern; changes require a new QRAccount owner can change the HTTPS destination
CountsNo built-in static scan analyticsLink opens, not unique visitors or verified camera scans
Service dependencyNo LoveMyFiles redirect; the encoded destination may need hostingDepends on LoveMyFiles and the destination website
ReprintingNeeded when encoded content changesUsually not for a destination change; deletion or blocking stops access

QR code error correction: L, M, Q and H

Error correction adds redundant data that can help a decoder recover a damaged pattern. L, M, Q and H increase that redundancy in order. More redundancy can make a QR denser, so the highest setting is not automatically the easiest to scan at a small print size.

In this editor, Auto chooses M for a plain square design and H for a logo or a non-square module pattern. With auto optimization enabled, a logo uses H even if you previously selected a lower level. Simplify the content or enlarge the print if the code becomes too dense.

What is a QR code quiet zone?

The quiet zone is the clear border on every side of the QR pattern. Scanners use it to separate the code from nearby text, artwork and edges. Standard QR codes need at least four module widths; LoveMyFiles starts at 4 and lets you increase the margin to 12.

Keep this border when cropping or placing the export. A frame outside the quiet zone is not a substitute for it, and a transparent border needs a clear surface behind it.

Make the QR easy to scan

  • Use strong dark-on-light contrast, including both positioning-eye colors.
  • Keep the quiet zone empty and avoid placing text or a logo over the eyes.
  • Do not stretch the QR width and height independently.
  • Shorten long URLs or unnecessary contact fields to reduce pattern density.
  • Keep logo obstruction small and use appropriate error correction.
  • Use a sufficiently large raster export or SVG for print; extra pixels cannot rescue a print that is physically too small.
  • Test on multiple phones, then test the final printed surface at the expected distance.

QR code size and printing guide

There is no universal perfect print size. Data density, scanning distance, camera quality, paper, glare and printing sharpness all matter. Export pixels are not a physical size: check the dimensions in your layout and print a test before a large run.

Business cards

Keep the contact or link concise. Leave enough space for the full quiet zone, and test the actual card rather than a zoomed screen preview.

Flyers

Place the QR beside a clear reason to scan. Keep surrounding text outside its clear border and test the paper and print method you will use.

Product packaging

Avoid folds, curved seams and reflective areas. Test a finished package under ordinary lighting, not only the flat design file.

Restaurant menus

Use a public menu link and check guest access on mobile. Test laminated signs for glare and replace worn prints when scanning becomes unreliable.

Posters

Allow for a longer viewing distance than a business card. Print a sample and try it from where people will actually stand.

Large signage

Use SVG where your print workflow supports it. Check sight lines, contrast, lighting and scanning distance before approving the final artwork.

Choose a QR type for your task

Business cards and email signatures

Use Contact for a vCard or URL for your website. A mail client may resize an image, so test the received signature.

Back to generator

Guest Wi-Fi and office reception

Use Wi-Fi for a guest network. Display it only where you intend to share those network credentials.

Back to generator

Menus and bookings

Use Menu for your published menu or URL for a booking page. The linked service handles availability and reservations.

Back to generator

Forms and education

Use Google Forms for a respondent URL, or Document for existing reading materials. Confirm that students can open the link.

Back to generator

Events and marketing flyers

Use Event for calendar details or URL for registration. A calendar QR does not register a visitor for the event.

Back to generator

Packaging and customer reviews

Use Review for a review link or URL for product instructions. The QR does not generate reviews or collect feedback itself.

Back to generator

Real estate and directions

Use Location for coordinates, Maps for an existing map link, or URL for a property page.

Back to generator

Office documents

Use Document for a stable hosted PDF or handbook. Restricted documents still require the host permissions.

Batch QR code generator from CSV

Generate multiple URL or Wi-Fi QR codes with one shared design and a ZIP download. CSV batch generation requires a free account. It does not currently support contact, event or payment batches.

  1. Sign in, open Batch QR codes and choose URL or Wi-Fi.
  2. Download the matching CSV template to see the accepted columns.
  3. Fill one record per row and save the CSV as UTF-8.
  4. Choose the CSV file and map your columns; the first three records have visual scan-check previews.
  5. Choose PNG or SVG and review the shared design before exporting.
  6. Download the ZIP and scan-test the individual files before using them.

A batch accepts up to 100 data rows in a CSV no larger than 1 MiB, with a ZIP limit of 25 MiB. Each batch image, including its frame, fits within 512 pixels. Rows are validated before export; QR rendering and ZIP creation run in the browser.

URL columns: name, url and filename. Wi-Fi columns: name, ssid, password, security and filename. URL and SSID are required for their respective types; security defaults to WPA when not mapped. The batch format has no hidden-network column.

QR code privacy: generation, exports and saved projects

Basic generation

Static QR encoding, preview scan checks, PNG, SVG, JPEG and WebP rendering happen in your browser. Choosing a logo reads and resizes it locally. Ordinary static generation does not send the entered QR content to the QR account APIs.

PDF export and account features

PDF export sends a rendered QR image to the server to build the PDF response; that image contains your encoded information. Saving a project sends its name, type, design, tags, folder choice and any included logo to account storage. Brand presets also store the design and included logo.

Optional saved content

The Save QR content checkbox is off by default. When enabled, your content fields are sent to account storage and encrypted at rest. Without that consent, the project stores its design and metadata, not its content fields. Encryption does not make a shared QR secret: someone can scan the downloaded pattern.

Tab drafts and CSV files

When the editor sends you to sign in, a tab-local sessionStorage draft can preserve your design and content for the return. CSV parsing and ZIP creation stay in the browser. Do not use a shared computer for confidential Wi-Fi or contact details.

Managed dynamic links store their destination and settings on the server. Their counters record link-open totals by day, not unique people or proven camera scans. General website traffic, cookies and analytics are covered by the site privacy policy; this page does not promise that no information ever leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions

Is the LoveMyFiles QR Code Generator free?

Yes. Static generation, logo customization and guest PNG downloads are free. Extra formats, saved projects, brand presets, dynamic links and CSV batches use a free account. QR generation does not deduct tool credits.

Do QR codes expire?

A static pattern has no LoveMyFiles-controlled expiration. Its website, file, credentials or contact details may stop working. Managed dynamic links depend on this service and can be paused, deleted or disabled.

Do I need an account?

Not for creating a static QR and downloading PNG. Sign in for SVG, JPEG, WebP and PDF exports, saved projects, reusable brand presets, managed dynamic links and CSV batches.

Can I add a logo?

Yes, including as a guest. Choose a PNG, JPG or WebP logo up to 2 MiB and 16 million pixels. Keep it compact, leave the positioning eyes visible and test the resulting QR.

Can I change the QR colors?

Yes. You can set module, background and eye colors, choose linear or radial gradients and use transparency. Dark-on-light contrast is more dependable; test the actual surface behind a transparent QR.

How do I create a Wi-Fi QR code?

Select Wi-Fi and enter the exact network name, security type and password. Open networks do not use a password. Hidden networks are supported in the single editor, but enterprise Wi-Fi is not. Anyone who has the QR can read the credentials.

How do I create a QR code for a website?

Choose URL and paste the complete http:// or https:// address. Preview the QR, test the destination and download it. A static URL QR does not host the website or bypass login restrictions.

Can I create a QR code for a PDF?

Yes, by choosing Document link or URL and entering the address of an already-hosted PDF. This generator does not upload or embed the PDF. Check that the intended readers have permission to open it.

Can I generate multiple QR codes at once?

A free account can generate URL or Wi-Fi batches from UTF-8 CSV. Upload up to 100 data rows in a file no larger than 1 MiB, map the columns and download a PNG or SVG ZIP. Other QR types are not supported in CSV batches.

What is a static QR code?

Its content is encoded directly in the pattern. Editing that content requires a new QR. You can update a webpage behind an unchanged URL, but you cannot change the address already inside a printed static pattern.

What is a dynamic QR code?

It encodes a managed link whose destination can change. LoveMyFiles account dynamic links show a destination page before continuing to the HTTPS website. Counts represent link opens, not unique people or confirmed QR scans.

What format should I use for printing?

SVG is useful for vector-based print layouts and needs a free account. A large PNG can also work when placed at an appropriate physical size. Do not stretch the pattern, and test the final print with its quiet zone intact.

Why is my QR code not scanning?

Common causes include weak contrast, a cropped border, an oversized logo, dense content, stretching, glare or a print that is too small for the scanning distance. Try Optimize, simplify the design and test again on multiple phones.

What is QR code error correction?

It adds redundancy to help recover damaged data. L, M, Q and H offer increasing redundancy but can make the code denser. Auto uses M for a plain square design and H for a logo or non-square pattern.

What is the quiet zone?

It is the clear border around the QR pattern. The editor uses at least four module widths on every side and allows up to twelve. Keep the border clear in the final artwork; a decorative frame does not replace it.

Should I test a QR before printing?

Yes. The built-in check decodes the preview at normal and half size, but it cannot guarantee a camera scan on your printed material. Test the exported file and final print on the intended phones, at the expected distance.
